, a subaru. i"i'm not in favor of a a$5 trillion tax cut. that's not my plan." mitchell: "the nonpartisan tax policy center concluded that mitt romney's tax plan would cost $4.8 trillion over 10 years." vo: why won't romney level with us about his tax plan, which gives the wealthy huge new tax breaks? because according to experts, he'd have to raise taxes on the middle class - or increase the deficit to pay for it. if we can't trust him here... how could we ever trust him here? >>> less than a month away now before election day. and how can we forget political ads, they remind us each and evy hour on the hour what is happening now. with barack obama and mitt romney had to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to define themselves for us while, of course, vilifying the other. that's why when i draw your attention to this documentary, that airs tomorrow night, on pbs, it is from the folks who bring us front line. here is just a preview. >> i got my start as a community organizer. >> i know how the private sector works. i know how jobs come. i know how they go. >> for years, these two men have b

-- or the next six weeks, and over and over again you're going to hear my opponents talk about how bigger tax cuts, fewer regulations, that's the way to go. and since government can't do everything it should do almost nothing. they're making -- if you can't afford health care, then hope you don't get sick. if you can't afford college, borrow money from your parents. you know what? that's not who we are. i don't think government can solve all our problems but government's not the source of all our problems, either. there's some things we've got to do together. we -- instead of going around blaming somebody, unions or immigrants or gays or somebody, for what's going on, what we need to do is pull together. we're all in this together. we believe that america only works when we all accept responsibility for ourselves, and for each other. that's how we- >> and mr. obama will be on the road through wednesday's first presidential debate. mitt romney heads to colorado tomorrow, where he'll hold a rally, and continue his preparations for wednesday's showdown in denver. he went to church this morning o

taxes is a mistake. >> clearly in a campaign with hundreds if not thousands of speeches and question and answer sessions, now and then you're going to say something that doesn't come out right. i said something that was completely wrong. >> and friday, another october surprise. president obama getting a boost with the new unemployment rate report. the rate dipping below 8 persh for the first time since the president took office in 2009, which brings us to the next surprise. the obama campaign cash that was raised last month. september proved to be a lucrative month for the president's re-election campaign. democrats raised $181 million. that's a record. joining me live from washington, peter hamby. that's a whole lot of cash raised. very amazing. say many, and all in one month. how was it done? big donors, small donors, what? >> the campaign says 98% of this money came from people giving $250 or less. sptd was a very big month for democrats. polls show that the convention really brought home the democratic base and these numbers just reaffirm it. this is the biggest monthly total of

specifics on tax plan or foreign policy. this from david. darn right, conservatives are itching to get to the polls, we can't take four more years of an ineffective presidency. not enthusiastic at all. i really don't care for either candidate what we need is a strong third or maybe fourth political party so we have a real choice. i will vote for obama because in spite of his failings, i think obama cares more about the middle class. facebook.com/carolcnn. thanks for your comments and thanks for watching my show today. i am karen costello. the obama administration wants to raise taxes by over a trillion dollars. this is the joe biden we want. joe biden has to be careful about going too hard at paul ryan because of just that, because of the gaffes and because he can look over bearing, and paul, a lot is riding on paul ryan, and we want to keep that momentum going from that first debate, and he has to be careful not to get into the weeds of some of these policies. >> i know. he tends to be quite wonkish at times and people listen and say what? >> well, that's right. it is important that ryan stick with the big picture and go after biden on the rising debt and our sky rocketed unemployment and talk about the failed last four years as opposed to being trying to get trapped in some of the bieden spiderwebs that he will try to weave. >> it appears that joe biden is really taking this seriously because the democrats don't want to repeat of the first debate, right? joe biden apparently has taken six days off and practicing, practicing, practicing, especially with zingers. >> yes, absolutely, and he should be taking it seriously. i thi
